Emploi-Québec encourages workers already employed and job seekers to maintain their skills, master all aspects of their trades, and keep their jobs.

Qualification program

The qualification program is a skill acquisition and recognition program for job seekers and people employed in the following trades:

  • Professional cooking

  • Web press printing

  • Machining

  • Tool making trades

  • Pastry cook

  • Recreational vehicle maintenance

  • Steel fabricator (fitter)

  • Mould making

  • Miner

  • Faller (mixed or deciduous forest)

  • Cabinetmaking

  • Die making

With your employer’s consent, you can work under the supervision of a more experienced employee, who will pass on his or her knowledge in the framework of a well-organized program. At the end of this learning period, you will be granted a vocational qualification certificate by Emploi-Québec. Other trades are slated to be added to the list. For more information, contact your Centre Local Emploi (the CLE in Campbell’s Bay: 819-648-2132).

Regulated apprenticeship and vocational qualification programs

Regulated apprenticeship and vocational qualification programs are aimed at workers in regulated fields such as plumbing, electricity, natural gas, stationary machine operation and other areas with a potential impact on public safety. These programs are designed to provide a training framework and validate your skills. If you exercise one of these trades, you are obliged by regulation to hold and apprenticeship booklet or a qualification certificate. To obtain your booklet or certificate, you have to pass an exam supervised by Emploi-Québec.
