Volunteering

14/01/2009 - Read 288 times
More and more employers today will not hire you if you lack work experience, regardless if you have the education. The easiest way to overcome this barrier is to volunteer.

Those who work within the community increase their communication and leadership skills as well as build transferable work related knowledge and hands on experience within a specific field or trade. Therefore, this could mean the difference between securing a dream job and settling for just any job.

We tend to underestimate the importance of volunteer work when searching for employment opportunities. The actual work experience gained and the contacts that we make as a volunteer are just as influential and reputable as those in an actual paid work environment.

For more information, concerning volunteer work experience, contact an employment counsellor at: (819) 648-5065.

Good Luck!
