It is fairly common to feel shy or even feel a certain lack of confidence when you are looking for a job. This causes you to become hesitant and miss out on very interesting opportunities.

Mastering job search techniques is a sure fire way of overcoming the shyness as well as giving your confidence a boost. You may already be aware of efficient job search techniques but do you really master them. The following tips will give you the necessary practice to feel confident and secure in your job search.

Start by composing a list of potential employers (your list can contain 10, 15….25 employers). After your list is complete, place them in order of importance (according to the interest you have in these employers). The number 1 choice on the list should be your most appealing opportunity. After your list is complete, it is time to move to the next step… contacting employers! Start by contacting the last choice (least favourite) and work your way up the list of names. By the time you have reach the middle of the list, you will have acquired enough self confidence and know how to perform well. The other half of the list will give you the practice to master the techniques.

Don’t forget that:

  •  The number of contacts you make will determine the number of calls (job opportunities) you will receive.
  •   Practice makes perfect.
  •   Employers won’t knock at your door…. You have to knock at their door….

Remember, reading the tips is not enough, put them to use and you will definitely see the results.

Go for it….. Break the ice
